Trump Promises $5,000 ‘Dividend’ to Every Adult American If Republicans Take Congress

President Donald Trump has once again promised a USD 5,000 payment to every adult citizen in the United States, but only if Republicans win control of both the House and the Senate in next month’s midterm elections.

In a video message posted on Truth Social, Trump framed the proposed “dividend” as an exclusive benefit of Republican leadership, claiming the federal government is bringing in record revenues thanks to his trade policies.

“If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America $5,000,” Trump said. “We’re taking in massive amounts of money through tariffs and record-setting economic success.”

A trillion-dollar promise with few details

Trump estimated the total cost of the checks at roughly USD 1 trillion, calling it an easy task given what he described as a record USD 21 trillion in investment flowing into the country over the past 15 months.

He pointed to a previous payout as proof he could deliver: the one-time USD 1,776 “Warrior Dividend” paid to 1.45 million service members last year. “Everyone said that was an impossible thing to do, but I did it, everybody got their money,” he said.

Trump also issued a stark warning about the alternative. If Democrats prevail in the November 3 elections, he said, they would raise taxes, destroy the economy and trigger a depression on the scale of 1929.

The announcement follows a similar pledge Trump made last month, when he said the “Trump Dividend” would happen and blamed Democrats for hoping it never would. CNN noted that Trump offered no specific details on how the estimated USD 1 trillion would be funded or distributed. His own Treasury Secretary previously cautioned that such a payment would require new legislation from Congress.

A campaign pitch one month from the vote

The promise comes as Trump ramps up efforts to rally Republican voters amid a dip in his polling numbers, a conflict with Iran that has dragged on for more than seven months, and rising concern over the cost of living and fuel prices.

It is not his first direct-payment pitch of this term. In July, Trump launched “Trump Accounts,” under which every American child born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 receives an initial USD 1,000 government deposit, with parents able to contribute up to an additional USD 5,000 per year.

Urging supporters to vote in large numbers, Trump wrote: “Republicans must WIN the 2026 Midterm Elections… PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
